Customers Take Cover After Man Pulls Out Rifle at North Miami Denny’s

Customers at a South Florida Denny's restaurant are seen dropping to the ground in surveillance footage after a man pulled out a rifle in the parking lot.

North Miami Police say the incident happened Sunday at the restaurant at 12105 Biscayne Boulevard when the suspect started arguing with a family that was there to have dinner.

"The family was waiting to be seated, he made some off comment about one of the young ladies that was with them," North Miami Police spokeswoman Annmarie Cardona said.

An employee asked the man to leave but while he did he allegedly said "Denny's is not safe." The man left but not for long.

"Shortly thereafter he returns in that same vehicle, exits the vehicle brandishing a black rifle," Cardona said.

Customers took cover by hiding under tables. No shots were fired and no one was injured, but police are looking for the man.

"You don't know what the intent was, you don't know what he could do, if not this Denny's then another establishment," Cardona said. "So that's why we’re asking the community please reach out, contact the police department."
