DMV Workers Took Bribes for Licenses: Feds

3 women approved licenses for illegal immigrants for $500 a piece

Federal agents have put the brakes on a trio of Broward County women who were living life in the fast lane by taking bribes to issue driver's licenses, federal prosecutors alleged Monday.

Mariline Ade, Alysia Jackson and Tempest Wright - all employees of the Department of Highway and Motor Vehicle - have been charged with fraud and accused of handing out more than 100 licenses to people who were not eligible to get a license in this country, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

According federal prosecutors, the women used their positions at the DMV to knowingly approve licenses for dozens of people who provided false immigration papers.

The illegal immigrants would receive the fake papers from Rolin Pierre, who was also arrested for his part in the scheme.

The women would receive as much as $500 each for every license they approved, prosecutors alleged.

Ade, 42, and 44-year-old Jackson were fired by the state after their arrest Friday.

Wright quit last year.

If found guilty, the women face 15 years in prison.
