DUI Charge for Man Who Struck Road Ranger in Miami

A man is facing a DUI charge after he struck a road ranger on I-95 in Miami-Dade early Sunday, officials said.

Shelton Joseph, 19, was arrested for DUI causing serious bodily injury in the crash that happened around 2 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of I-95 at Northwest 103rd Street, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

Joseph was released early Monday after posting bond. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.

According to the FHP, the road ranger, Amaury DaCosta, was assisting an FHP trooper when he was struck by a red Honda driven by Joseph. DaCosta suffered serious injuries and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was in stable condition.

Joseph was taken into custody at the scene.
