A strict South Florida dad was arrested on aggravated child abuse and battery charges after he fired his gun to keep his disrespectful daughter in line.

Jorge Alvarenga, 48, was arrested at his Lake Worth home Thursday after the confrontation with his daughter, according to the Palm Beach Post.

According to a police report, Alvarenga became enraged when his daughter said she wanted to meet up with some friends at the beach Friday.

He accused her of going there to meet up with an ex-boyfriend, who he didn't approve of, the daughter told police.

To make his point, Alvarenga allegedly fired his handgun toward a backyard fence.

When officers showed up at the house, Alvarenga's daughter told them he'd been drinking and had fired the gun. Though Alvarenga denied having a gun or shooting one, police found a bullet hole in a fence and four bullet shells and one round on his driveway.

Alvarenga allegedly told police that the boyfriend was "brainwashing his daughter."

He was arrested and was being held on $20,000 bond.
