Damaged Ferrari Helps Police Target Person of Interest in Fort Lauderdale Murder Case

A Ferrari that belonged to a man found murdered inside a Fort Lauderdale home was discovered 12 miles from the murder scene and helped police target a potential person of interest, officials said.

The car was found near Charles Drew Elementary School in Pompano Beach.

Surveillance video shows a man running near the area where officials said 68-year-old Guy Eargle Jr.’s Ferrari was found abandoned last Saturday.

no description

Two days later, Eargle’s body was discovered at a home he had been staying at on Southeast 17th Avenue.

The white Ferrari was stolen from the victim’s home, detectives said, but it’s unclear how it got damaged. Police haven’t revealed a potential motive or explained who found Eargle.

Eargle, a Miami Norland Senior High School graduate and former telecommunications executive, was a part time resident of Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta.

The incident surprised residents in the upscale neighborhood.

“We’ve lived here 37 years and nothing’s happened in this neighborhood,” a neighbor said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 954-828-5708.
