“Dash-and-Grab” Robber Attacked Clerk, Grabbed Gold Necklaces Worth Almost $10,000: BSO

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are searching for a suspect who attacked a Lauderdale Lakes jewelry store clerk and made off with seven gold necklaces worth almost $10,000, authorities said Tuesday.

The “dash-and-grab” robbery occurred on the afternoon of Nov. 18, the BSO said.

At about 1:30 p.m., a man entered the Value Pawn and Jewelry store, at 2950 N. State Road 7, and insisted on seeing the most expensive necklaces there, according to the BSO.

While looking at the jewelry, he chose one necklace and asked to hold it. The suspect then forcefully grabbed the necklace from the clerk’s hand, they struggled, and the suspect pushed the clerk to the ground, the BSO said.

After the clerk fell, the suspect reached into the open display case and took several more necklaces, before he fled northwest toward 3970 W. Oakland Park Blvd., the BSO said.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the case to call Robbery Det. Scott Nida at 954-321-4249 or Broward County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 954-493-TIPS. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
