    A Davie man was killed after the single-engine plane he was piloting crashed Sunday, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said.

    John D. Schoonover, 62, was found dead at the scene after the airplane crashed nose down, Sheriff Ken J. Mascara said.

    The plane, a single-seat, single-engine aircraft built from a kit, crashed on Range Line Road, south of Glades Cut Off Road west of Port St. Lucie, Mascara said.

    Two people were killed after a helicopter crashed about two miles east of Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport on Wednesday, authorities said. Witness Julia Senior and the NTSB's Patrick Murray comment.

    The accident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. near the entrance to Treasure Coast Air Park.
