Davie Police Release Sketch of Man Whose Body Was Found Being Eaten by Alligators in Southwest Ranches Canal

Police still need to identify man whose body was found in canal

Police have released a composite sketch as they work to identify a man whose body was found floating in a canal and being eaten by a pair of alligators in Southwest Ranches.

The victim is a black male, 50-60 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, about 200 pounds with brown eyes and dark hair, Davie Police said Friday. The man had no teeth other than his two rear molars and no tattoos, police said.

The man's body was found Monday evening in a canal in the 7100 block of U.S. Highway 27 by two fishermen. Officers were able to scare the alligators away and retrieve the body but couldn't tell at first whether it was a man or woman.

Detectives were able to obtain fingerprints but are asking for the public's help in identifying the body. Anyone with information is asked to call Davie Police at 954-693-8200.
