Police said they found a dead body inside a Homestead house Wednesday afternoon after a man showed up to a hospital with serious injuries to his body.

"Subsequently to that, Homestead officers responded to the residence, and that's when they discovered a black female deceased inside the house from apparent stab wounds,” Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said.

Homestead Police found the body at 1405 SE 6th St., which is the last known address of a registered sex offender.

Miami-Dade Police said Wednesday night they are conducting a murder investigation, and said the man they believe was responsible was undergoing surgery at Homestead Hospital.

But they have not released his name, nor that of the victim found inside the house. She had what looked like stab wounds on her body, they said.

How the two situations are related is also not known at this point. But police are looking to the man being treated at the hospital for answers.

"Of course that individual is going to be a person of interest, because of the fact that he did leave from this residence to receive medical attention,” Zabaleta said, adding that until police interview him, they won’t know how he’s involved.
