Deerfield Beach Woman Kills Roommate, Hides Body in Garment Bag

BSO says it's unclear when Luongo killed the roommate, but say the body had been in the closet for several days.

A Deerfield Beach woman has been charged with first-degree murder after police say she killed her roommate and stored the body in a garment bag.

The Broward Sheriff's Office says 44-year-old Jacqueline Marie Luongo has been charged with the murder. BSO received a call from an out-of-town man who was concerned that he couldn't reach his friend for several days. Deputies visited the apartment at 4255 Crystal Lake Drive two times on Thursday with no response. When they returned Friday morning with a pass key, they discovered a 68-year-old woman's body hidden in a garment bag in a bedroom closet.

According to BSO, Luongo had called deputies on her roommate on August 27, saying the roommate had assaulted her and had a warrant for probation violation. Deputies arrested the roommate, who has not yet been identified, and released her the following day.

BSO says it's unclear when Luongo killed the roommate, but say the body had been in the closet for several days. Fort Lauderdale Police received a tip around 1 a.m. Saturday morning that Luongo was in an apartment complex in Fort Lauderdale. After a four-hour stand-off with BSO and Fort Lauderdale Police, Luongo was taken into custody.
