Two high profile cancer survivors, the chair of the Democratic National Committee and her Republican challenger, are fighting over politicizing their disease on the campaign trail in a U.S. Congressional race.

Karen Harrington is accusing incumbent Debbie Wasserman Schultz of using her breast cancer in a recent campaign flier to score political points in the South Florida district she has held for years. Wasserman Schultz mentions being a breast cancer survivor three times in the campaign piece that is being left at homes in her district.

Harrington has responded by sharply criticizing the flier and accusing her political rival of using breast cancer to make cheap political points.

A spokesman for Wasserman Schultz called Harrington's criticism tasteless and possibly a new low in American politics.
