Deputies Bust South Florida Music Shop Containing Illegal Items

A confrontation at a convenience store led police to a piracy bust at a South Florida music store.

Andrew Gordon, the owner of “Music & Things” in Deerfield Beach, was arrested after police found illegal DVD’s and CD’s of pirated movies and recordings.

During the sweep, deputies also found cocaine and a weapon in the back of the store, located at 976 South Deerfield Avenue.

"We found over 6,000 DVD's that were bootlegged, which is counterfeit. We found some drugs and we found a weapon,” said Captain Rob Schnakenberg, with the Broward Sherriff’s Office.

The investigation started after Gordon’s friend, who is unidentified, got into a verbal argument with the son of the owner of Snappy Convenience Store. The store is located about a block away from the music shop.

"Then the guy starts talking s**t to my son. Called him all kinds of names in the morning. My son said 'I just wake up, I don't want to hear that. Please take yourself and leave,'" Fred Al-Madi said.

The suspect left the store and continued to shout names from the parking lot. A customer overheard the argument and the suspect showed a customer his gun.

Store owner Al-Madi called police, who tracked the suspect back to Music & Things.

"While our officers were on scene investigating one issue, they discovered several other issues while inside the store," Schnakenberg said.

An investigation is currently underway.

Gordon’s friend is facing charges for carrying a firearm and a parole violation.
