Deputies Find Cocaine In Car After Brief Chase

A brief police chase in Broward County Thursday ended up with two people in custody and drugs being discovered inside the vehicle.

Everything started when a BSO deputy received a tip about a drug deal. The deputy stopped a car on NW 2nd Street and NW 31st Avenue related to the tip. BSO said the deputy walked up to the car and began talking with the female suspect, Carol Pritchard Williams.

BSO said at some point in the conversation, the driver put the car in reverse and hit the gas. As the car went backwards, the door, which was open, knocked down the officer. The deputy wasn’t injured and got into his car to chase the suspects.

Other deputies were able to help stop the car at Sheridan Street and I-95. Both the driver and passenger were arrested and officers found cocaine in the car.

BSO said Williams will most likely be charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and possession of cocaine. The other passenger was her 14-year-old daughter, BSO said it's unclear if the daughter will face any charges.
