Dog Hit by Car Doing Well After Surgery

A dog hit by a car over the weekend is now recovering after surgery, thanks to the help of NBC 6 viewers.

Cheryl Linton-Robinson reached out to NBC 6 on December 21st after she found the black lab mix on the side of the road. She drove the dog to St. Francis Animal Hospital in Hollywood, where X-rays revealed a badly-crushed pelvis. The dog had no microchip and no identification.

The hospital told Robinson that the dog required emergency surgery by a bone specialist and estimated costs to be around $4,000. Thanks to our NBC 6 viewers, donations poured in to the tune of $5,620.00.

The dog underwent a two-hour-long surgery Tuesday to repair multiple fractures to the dog's pelvis. According to Robinson, the specialist expects that the 80-pound dog will need physical therapy to gain strength in his hind legs due to his size.

Robinson said the extra money donated during her fundraiser would hopefully be enough to cover the dog's post-surgery therapy. She said if any money is left over, she will donate the remaining proceeds to the hospital to help any other animal in need.

While the fundraiser has ended, you can keep track of any updates to the dog's condition on the donation site: http://www.gofundme.com/j5dzvc.
