New Dog-Walking App Launches In Miami

Busy dog owners in Miami have a new way to ensure their pups get their daily walk.

Wag, an app that connects dog owners with screened dog walkers, has just launched in Miami.

The app caters to dog owners who are busy with work, planning to go on vacation, or simply don’t have the time to give their four-legged friends their daily dose of exercise.

“As many pet lovers are also busy with professional and social responsibilities, it only makes sense to provide them with services that can ease the stress of pet ownership with the touch of a button,” said Josh Viner, co-founder of the company.

Viner came up with the idea after his own reluctance to take on a pet, according to a press release. The entrepreneur wanted to make it easier for people with hectic work schedules to own and care for a dog.

To create an account, pet owners have to enter their address, pet information and a few more details on the Wag app or website. Users can then schedule a walk with a certified walker. (Dog walkers have to undergo a background check and other screening, according to the official website.)

A dog walker can be called in as little as 30 minutes, according to the press release. Users can track walks -- which can last 20, 30, or 60 minutes -- in real time using their phone’s GPS system. At the end of the walk, a “pup report” which includes a “full disclosure of when and where the pet did its business” is issued to the dog owner.

Prices vary depending on region, but the average price of a walk is $20. For more information log on to wagwalking.com.

Other dog walking apps, like Rover and Paws Miami, are also available to dog owners in South Florida.
