Dolphins Come to Terms With Five Draft Picks

The Dolphins signed five of their recent seven draft picks to contracts on Friday

The Miami Dolphins signed five of their recent picks from the 2017 NFL draft to contracts on Friday.

Raekwon McMillan, Cordrea Tankersley, Isaac Asiata, Vincent Taylor and wide receiver Isaiah Ford all came to terms with Miami. The only two remaining picks without contracts are Charles Harris and Davon Godchaux. Harris was Miami's first-round pick, while Godchaux went in the fifth round.

McMillan who was taken in the second round, figures to play early and often in 2017. The linebacker started at Ohio State and was the team captain in 2016. McMillan brings with him a tremendous tackling ability and an eye for the quarterback. In his time at Ohio State, McMillan amassed six sacks.

Tankersley went to Miami in the third round of the draft, after four long years at Clemson. The cornerback could be a difference maker for Miami, which would be surprising contributions from the 97th overall slot. The CB had nine interceptions during his time at Clemson.

Fifth-round pick Asiata has a bit of a family history in the NFL. The guard's cousin spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and now Asiata will try and add to that family tradition. While at Utah, Asiata was voted the Pac-12’s best offensive lineman. Miami needs all the help it can get on the line, especially with injuries depleting the team's depth last season at times.

Taylor who is a defensive tackle, was taken 194th overall during the sixth round. Despite his late selection, Taylor brings some impressive numbers with him. The DT had seven sacks in 2016 at Oklahoma State and also blocked four kicks.

Ford will look to get involved in Miami's passing game this coming season and he also has an impressive résumé. While at Virginia Tech, Ford had 24 receiving touchdowns. The wide receiver also had 210 receptions and 2,967 receiving yards overall. All three of the marks are school records.
