Dolphins Fall to 1-3 With Loss in Cincinnati

The Dolphins continued their tough season with a 22-7 loss to the Bengals on Thursday

The Miami Dolphins were beaten for a third time this season with their 22-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday.

With the loss, Miami is now 1-3 on the year and has lost all three of its road games. It has been a difficult start to the season for a team that began the year with playoff aspirations. With a quarter of the season already over, Miami will need to turn things around fast.

Miami had a lead early in this one, but it did not last long. Following a quick field goal from the Bengals, Ryan Tannehill found Kenny Stills for a 74-yard touchdown reception. That TD put Miami ahead by four points, until roughly six minutes later when Cincinnati entered the end zone.

At the half, the Dolphins trailed by nine points and that deficit only grew larger in the third quarter. Miami was behind by 12 entering the fourth quarter and that lead proved to be insurmountable.

Tannehill finished the day going 15-25 on his passes for 189 yards. The quarterback had one touchdown and one interception in a mostly quiet game in the air. Tannehill however made a critical mistake in the final minutes of the first half. During a sack, the QB fumbled the ball away and the Bengals added a field goal about a minute later. The interception for Tannehill would also be costly as it ended any hopes of a comeback in the fourth quarter.

Without Arian Foster available for the game, the Dolphins had a patchwork running game. Jay Ajayi led the team with his 33 yards on six carries and team only had 62 rushing yards combined.

Miami will next be in action on October 9th against the Tennessee Titans. That game will be the first of four in a row at home for the Dolphins.
