Dolphins Game Preview: Week Seven vs. Jets

The Dolphins will be looking for a third straight victory when they host the Jets on Sunday

The Miami Dolphins will try to make it three wins in a row when they host the New York Jets on Sunday.

Following a 1-2 start to the season, Miami is now 3-2 and in a good position. Even though the Jets came out on top earlier this season, this game is seen as a winnable one for the Dolphins. The Jets have a 3-3 record, but are expected to finish the season with a losing mark. The Dolphins meanwhile will be seeking revenge in this game and will be playing at home.

Jay Cutler had two touchdowns in Miami's win last week over the Atlanta Falcons. The victory featured a big comeback from the Dolphins and Cutler was partly responsible for it. While the veteran was picked off once again during the game, Cutler quieted some of the noise surrounding his job. Cutler's stats last week were his best since the opening game of the season.

Miami has played exceptionally well in close games dating back to last season. This game could be a close contest and Miami's perfect field goal kicking unit could come into play. Cody Parkey is 3-3 on his field goal tries this season and Miami has won 11 straight games that have been decided by seven points or fewer.

Defense has been a bright spot for the Dolphins and that unit will be needed once again. New York's starting quarterback Josh McCown has outperformed Cutler thus far, but he is vulnerable to turnovers. With six picks in six games, McCown has struggled with his pass selection. McCown has also fumbled the ball six times this season. New York's poor offensive line combined with Miami's solid defensive line should be a recipe for multiple turnovers.

DeVante Parker is doubtful for this game, after missing last week's contest. Parker is continuing to battle a sprained ankle and Jarvis Landry will likely be Cutler's main target again. Landry drew 14 passes his last week, a number that will could be equaled against New York.

Sunday's kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
