Dolphins Place Koa Misi on IR

LB will miss final two games of the season with shoulder injury

The Miami Dolphins placed second-year LB Koa Misi on the injured reserve list Tuesday. Misi suffered a shoulder injury in the Dolphins' December 11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles which forced him out of last week's game against Buffalo.

Misi will miss the Dolphins' remaining regular season games against the Patriots and Jets. The team activated rookie QB Pat Devlin from the practice squad to take his place. Taking Devlin's spot on the practice squad is former Sacramento State QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who the team signed Tuesday.

Misi started 9 games at strong side linebacker this season, collecting 34 tackles and one sack. The Dolphins drafted him in the second round of the 2010 draft out of Utah.

In his 2 seasons with Miami, Misi has started 20 games, but only accumulated 72 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

Meanwhile, All-Pro LT Jake Long returned to practice Tuesday after missing the Buffalo game. Long injured his back during the Eagles game, and the offensive line imploded after he left that game. The Bills game was the first time in his four-year career that he did not make a start for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins have not yet determined whether Long will return to action against New England on Saturday. Considering his importance to the team, it may be wise for the team to let him sit this one out (and maybe even the season finale against the Jets).
