Miami

High Stakes for Miami Dolphins on Sunday

When Kiko Alonso smothered Colin Kaepernick, tore off his helmet, and took a victory jaunt, the Miami Dolphins moved one step closer to becoming an unlikely playoff team following a 1-4 start.

After winning 6 games in a row, the Dolphins’ longest streak in 13 years, their record is 7-4.

If the season ended today, Miami would be the last playoff team to make it in. The Dolphins have the same record as Denver, but get the edge for a “wild card” thanks to the tie-breaker of conference record.

And here’s why Sunday’s game in Baltimore is so critical:

According to fivethirtyeight.com, no NFL game this weekend has more at stake. If the Dolphins win, their playoff chances go up by nearly 20 percent. If they lose, their playoff probability will decrease by 15 percent.

The Ravens are a slight favorite according to Vegas sports books, but if the dolphins can win their 7th in a row, it would be the first time the franchise has done that since 1985!
