With the beginning of training camp days away, the Miami Dolphins added wide receiver Kenny Stafford to the team's 90-man roster.

Stafford was waived by the Atlanta Falcons at the end of training camp last season, after which he spent time with the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League and the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

He played college ball at Toledo, catching 59 passes for 906 yards and 8 touchdowns in four seasons.

Stafford will be in a crowded field of new faces on the receiving corps. Free agent acquisitions Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson will join returning receiver Brian Hartline as the likely starting group, with Stafford and seven other receivers competing for the remaining three roster spots.

Earlier this week, Wallace said he expects a competitive atmosphere at training camp. "Everybody has the college mentality around here," he said.

"It's a lot different coming from where I come from with the older guys. I think everybody is hungry, everybody wants to get better, and everybody wants to be what we need to be to have a winning record."

Additionally, the Miami Herald reported Friday morning that the Dolphins have told former Ravens fullback Vonta Leach that they will not offer him a contract before training camp opens. The team had been discussing adding the former Pro Bowler, and still might make him an offer during training camp, but will open camp with Javorskie Lane as the top fullback on the roster.

The Dolphins open 2013 training camp on Sunday, with their first preseason game on August 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.
