Dolphins Top Ravens to Halt Skid

The Dolphins put an end to a two-game losing streak with Sunday's win over Baltimore

The Miami Dolphins held on for a 15-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday to end a two-game losing streak.

Things looked troublesome for Miami in the final minutes of the game of what was once a 15-0 lead. Baltimore scored 13 unanswered points including a field goal during the final quarter of play. Ultimately Miami was able to hold on and run out the game to secure the much-needed victory.

The win gives the Dolphins a 5-7 record on the year which still has them in the bottom half of the AFC. A playoff run is improbable for Miami even if it wins every game the rest of the way.

Unlike last week, the Dolphins featured a busy running game. This was the first game that had Zac Taylor running the offense and he made his presence known. Miami ran the ball 26 times for a total of 137 yards. Lamar Miller who had a total of two yards on the ground last week had 113 alone on Sunday.

With the ground game hard at work, Ryan Tannehill was able to rest his arm. Miami's quarterback threw a season-high 58 passes in last week's loss to the New York Jets. In this win, Tannehill only threw the ball 19 times and was successful on nine passes. In all, the QB had 86 yards passing and a touchdown.

Olivier Vernon had a strong game on defense for Miami with 2.5 sacks. Derrick Shelby picked up the other half on that sack. Vernon is set to hit free agency after the season and could be winding down his Miami career. The veteran had six tackles in all and four of them were of the solo variety.

Miami will stay home for a game against the New York Giants next week on Monday at 8:30 p.m.
