Don King Set to Give Away Turkeys to South Floridians, Again

Last week the boxing promoter's truck full of turkeys went missing

Don King is saving Christmas for thousands of South Floridians.

The famous boxing promoter is fixing a wrong and personally handing out turkeys to those in need this holiday season.

It's something the legendary boxing promoter has been doing for 50 years.

He was set to start the giveaway in Deerfield Beach last week, but the truck full of birds never showed up.

"I was told it was hijacked, then I heard there was a tire blow-out," King said.

Still unsure what happened to nearly 3,000 Christmas meals, the South Florida resident sent a letter to Costco asking for more new, fresh turkeys to hand out.

"This is people time," King said. "It's one of the worst time I've seen."

That's why 80-year-old King says he's doing whatever it takes to make sure all the Christmas turkeys make it by Thursday.

"Everyone should do this," King said.

Thursday, King will travel to Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties handing out the turkeys to families in need.
