The Cadillac Championship is back this week for another year at the Doral Golf Resort, and thanks to Donald Trump, everything about the course will never be the same again.
“The course is in the best shape it’s been for the last 25 years and it’s a little ironic because we blow it up on Monday.” Said Donald Trump.
Nicolas Colsaerts is a pro golfer from Belgium and has been playing here for 15 years.
“Well I don’t know the guy personally but we’ve all seen what he’s done with a lot of different places and you know business related or gulf related so I’m sure he’s done with a lot of these places and like I said very curious to see how he’s going to handle it here," said Colsaerts.
Right now, Trump has 14 golf courses all over the world and recently dropped $150 million to buy the Doral Resort and Spa.
“Well we’re going to make it much bigger much longer we’re going to make it into a much bigger tournament course we’re going to create tremendous mounding so the fans can see because right now its flat and this would be the last year as Doral as we know it” Trump said.
With another $150 million in renovations he says it will be fan friendly and a nice change for members like Thor Salen.
“Well I'm really excited about the facilities that he’s going to change the driving range the short game facilities, like its going to be a great place to practice golf,” Salen said.
Trump says the 18th hole—the infamous blue monster will also be completely different and by this time next year, the entire course will be tournament ready.
