Call it the great garage compromise.
A South Florida man whose patriotic garage display rankled his homeowner association has agreed to alter it, though there'll still be plenty of red, white and blue.
Joe Milenkovic, assistant police chief in Delray Beach, will take down the four-inch magnetic letters that read "God Bless America" on the garage of his Coral Springs home.
In their place: a flag with the words "God Bless America." And just for good measure, he's adding an eagle.
Milenkovic got into hot water with his neighbors, who said the original sign was gaudy and violated a neighborhood rule against posting signs.
But Milenkovic said he was simply exercising his rights and showing patriotism.
