Double Homicide in Hollywood: Police

Detectives are following leads as they investigate a double homicide in Hollywood Tuesday night, police said.

Troy Harris, 40, and Delsi Smith, 41, were both shot several times at 5225 Fletcher St. and were pronounced dead on the scene, Hollywood Police said Wednesday.

Officers discovered the victims after they responded to 911 calls at about 8:16 p.m.

But first responders' efforts were in vain.

"The lady was screaming 'Oh my God they killed him, they killed him,'" neighbor Krystal Sanjuan said.

The male suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot, police said.

Neighbor Willie Lyons said he saw the victims "laying stretched out on the ground face-down."

One of the bullets pierced his son's bedroom window.

"He sleeps in this room. Good thing he wasn't in the room 'cause he might have got hit," Lyons said.

The victims had previous run-ins with the law, as both Harris and Smith were arrested on drug and other charges, records show.

Their killings have residents on edge.

"It was terrible, (brings) me nightmares because of the body, just seeing that scars you for life," Sanjuan said.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the case to call Hollywood Police at 954-967-HELP or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS, or to email police at hollywoodpdtips@hollywoodfl.org.
