New Dramatic Video of Tri-County Police Chase Released

A woman with a cell phone captured portions of a man's desperate attempt to elude police in 50-mile, three-county chase from Miami Gardens to Boynton Beach Wednesday, WPTV reports.

A detective from Miami Gardens police said officers responded to a report of shots fired Wednesday afternoon. As they arrived, a car tried ramming into their squad car. The chase hit I-95, ending at Gateway Boulevard.

Elaine Garcia was in the passenger's seat of her boyfriend's car. They had just exited at Gateway Boulevard.

She said she saw police with spike strips and guns, so she went to take a picture with her camera phone.

All of a sudden, the red car police were chasing came crashing in behind her. The driver immediately got out and jumped over a 20-feet tall barrier wall.

"I think he probably thought it was a five-feet drop," Garcia said.

She recorded the whole thing.

"I thought he was actually gonna plow through us," she admitted.

Boynton Beach Police K9 Daxxx caught the driver, 35-year-old Demetrics Brown. Police say the passenger, Glen Jackson, was caught at the scene of the crash.

Both men are in the Miami-Dade County Jail. Court records show they are both from Palm Beach County.

The men face charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, fleeing, and grand theft.
