Davie Police say they've found the vehicle and driver they believe may be involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed an elderly woman Monday.
The suspected driver hasn't been identified but has been cooperative with investigators, and the vehicle is being processed for evidence at the Davie Police Department, authorities said Wednesday.
Some evidence is being analyzed and detectives are waiting for the results before moving forward with the investigation, police said.
Police say Rita Chiero, 86, was walking east in the 5200 block of Southwest 33rd Street in the west bound lane when she was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle just before 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Chiero, who lives nearby, was rushed to Broward General Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. The vehicle fled the scene.
