Driver Crashes Into Ft. Lauderdale Historic Building

A driver is in the hospital Thursday after he slammed his car into a historic building in Fort Lauderdale.

The crash happened late Wednesday evening in the area of Northeast Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street in Fort Lauderdale.

Witnesses say the man's car crossed Flagler Drive and Third Avenue across the train tracks and slammed into a wine shop, destroying some irreplaceable bottles of wine.

The driver is reported to have suffered minor injuries.

He is being charged with reckless driving, according to police.

The historic building is the former Fort Lauderdale train station. It is more than 100 years old.
