Driver Crashes into NW Miami-Dade Apartment Building

A driver was arrested after crashing into an apartment building in northwest Miami-Dade Friday, marking the second accident of this kind that's damaged the building in just six months.

The driver, 27-year-old Keyyvona Rolle, was speeding when she lost control of her car and slammed into the complex located in the 7100 block of Northwest 17th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Police say Rolle tried walking away from the scene but was arrested.

She's been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and property damage and ordered held on bond. It's not known if she hired an attorney.

For residents at the complex, it's a case of déjà vu. That same building was hit by a speeding driver last November, leaving behind damage that workers were still in the process of fixing.

Friday's crash damaged the support columns of the complex. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews deemed the building unsafe, meaning some residents must find a new place to stay.

One resident was treated for minor cuts caused by flying debris from the crash. Residents say now they're worried about their safety.

"It happens so often," one resident said of the crashes. "It don't make any sense."
