Early Voting for Florida Primary Starts January 21

Number of days reduced from 14 to 8

From Key West to Jupiter, polls will open on January 21 throughout South Florida for voters looking to get a jump on the January 31 Republican presidential primary.

Voting sites in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties will open at varying times during the 8-day period that runs from Saturday, January 21 to Saturday, January 28.

Those looking to cast their votes to determine the Republican challenger to President Barack Obama should be prepared for a different experience than in year’s past, beginning with the January date for the Florida primaries.

Among the changes is the reduction in the early voting days, from 45 to eight, as a result of new election laws passed last year.

The laws also changed a longtime state police that allowed voters to change their addresses at their new precinct when they went to vote. Now, they will have cast a provisional vote until the new address is documented.

In Miami-Dade, voters should visit the county’s election supervisor site for polling station locations, hours and other information. Broward voters can similarly visit their supervisor of elections, while Palm Beach and Monroe County voters can also find information at their respective sites.
