Early Voting on Special Election for Miami Dolphins' Sun Life Stadium Begins Monday

Here's where to vote early.

Early voting on the referendum to renovate Sun Life Stadium begins Monday in Miami-Dade County.

If the referendum passed, the county would increase the mainland hotel rate from 6 percent to 7 percent, then give the Miami Dolphins 75 percent of the new revenue up to $7.5 million in the first year. The cap would increase by 3 percent every year.

After 30 years, the Dolphins would refund the county between $110 million and $120 million.

The deal also hinges on the NFL awarding Super Bowls to Miami.

The Dolphins are paying for the special election, which is expected to cost about $4.8 million amd is scheduled for May 14.
