Dwyane Wade may rule the basketball court but he's having a hard time ruling the kitchen.
The Heat superstar, already battling the Hawks in the playoffs, will head to battle in a different type of court in yet another lawsuit over a failed restaurant chain that beared his name.
Wade, a business partner and his agent are accused in a federal lawsuit of conspiring to destroy or take over D. Wade's Place, a chain which operated in Ft. Lauderdale and Boca raton for just weeks before they ultimately failed last year, according to the Miami Herald.
LH Equity, the majority owner of the eatery venture, claims Wade's failure to properly publicize the restaurants doomed the franchise to failure.
"The two existing [D. Wade Place] restaurants were deprived of the Wade-centered publicity necessary to support the . . . business model," the suit alleges. "As a consequence, these restaurants were shut down."
Wade , who owns a 10 percent share in the company, was sued last year for breach of contract in Miami-dade Circuit Court.
The restaurant was expected to thrive through the sales of Wade memorabilia at discount prices. The federal lawsuit alleges that Wade wanted to torpedo the restaurants because he stood to make less off the merchandise if it sold through them.
