There are no silver linings that can come out of the earthquake that rocked Ecuador earlier this month but now it’s time to help and that’s what NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 were doing Saturday in Doral.
Dozens of volunteers unpacked truck after truck of donations, including clothes for kids, water, personal hygiene items, you name it. The "Ecuador We Are With You!" relief event coincided with Comcast Cares Day.
A kind gesture that’s not going over looked. Debbie Ruid is just one of many from Ecuador who sees all of South Florida coming out to help.
“It’s touched my heart. I actually just came here in August and I didn’t know there was so many people that cared about this country," she said.
Andrea Perez is another Ecuadorian who is so grateful.
“Kids need a lot of donations, kids' clothes and shoes. Our elderly, our animals, they need all the help that they can get," she said.
The effort is lead by the Consulate of Ecuador. South Florida has already sent 500 tons of help to Ecuador.

“We all speak the language of giving so it’s nice to see everyone and nice to see everyone communicate through that,” NBC 6 reporter Marissa Bagg said.
“This is great just thinking about what it's going to be like in Ecuador when they unload this," sister Julia Bagg said. "We just want to help a little bit and I hope it goes a long long way.”
“It just warms your heart to see people are trying to help out and we’re going to be able to make an impact for those people there," NBC 6 morning anchor Sheli Muniz said.
