Embattled Dolphins Coach Tony Sparano's Home For Sale

The proverbial fat lady has sung, or at least called a realtor: Dolphins coach Tony Sparano has put his Davie house up for sale for $1.5 million.

Sparano claimed Wednesday that he and the missus are simply looking to downsize from their luxury lakefront home -- never mind that 0-6 record on the season, or the giant ax owner Stephen Ross has been itching to swing since last spring.

"I'm an empty nester," Sparano reportedly chuckled on a media conference call. "My daughter just moved away to college and my two sons are out of the house, so my wife and I have a huge house with nobody in it for the first time.

"And we’re beach people," he added, "so that would be about it."

Beach people the Sparanos may be, here's guessing they're not plunking down a down payment any time soon in South Florida: the for sale sign comes on the heels of reports that Miami brass have been flirting with former Steelers coach Bill Cowher.

Perhaps the Dolphins' future new coach -- Cowher or otherwise -- would like an overstyled five-bedroom with "all the bells and whistles?" A listing on Zillow.com shows Sparano's 5,659-square foot home has pre-cast Italianate archways and columns, custom built-ins, exotic granites, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and a pool.

Not only that, it boasts a massive home theatre and a backup generator in case the power goes out (sadly, though, it's ineffective on careers).

Adding to the Connecticut native's bad luck in the Sunshine State, records show if the house sells at asking price Sparano will take a quarter-million dollar hit on his real estate.
