Two men who were formerly considered part of Miami-Dade's finest will soon be inmates with the state's most infamous.
Former county detectives Joe Losada and Daniel Fernandez were found guilty late Wednesday for their roles in a seedy shake down of a local drug dealer.
The men allegedly stole $970 from a fake crime scene that was really part of an undercover sting. They thought they were robbing a drug dealer who was also an informant for the police, prosecutors alleged.
Losada was convicted of official misconduct and aggravated assault with a fire arm. Fernandez was found guilty of burglary.
The men had been offered plea deals that would have allowed them to avoid jail time in exchange for their badges, but they refused.
Now they are in jail awaiting sentencing and could spend several years in prison.
