Marine Shot and Killed in Armed Carjacking in Miami Gardens

A Marine veteran was killed in an armed carjacking in Miami Gardens over the weekend.

The incident happened shortly after midnight Sunday in the 19800 block of Northwest 44th Court, Miami Gardens Police said.

According to police, 27-year-old Guillermo Manuel Comme and his family had been visiting friends and were in a car about to leave when a suspect holding two firearms approached and tried to rob them.

Three of the people in the car fled but Comme got into a struggle with the suspect. The suspect shot Comme, but a family member returned fire and shot the suspect, police said.

The suspect fled the scene but was found on a nearby street by officers, police said. Comme and the suspect were rushed to Aventura Hospital, where Comme died Sunday night.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Demetrious Oscar Williams, had been in critical condition but died Monday afternoon, police said.

Family and friends said Comme was a former Marine who served for four years with two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was recently working as a painter at a car dealership.

"My husband was an honorable Marine, an amazing father and husband and a very hardworking man that was taken from us way too soon," wife Laura Comme said. "He left behind a very beautiful little girl that now misses her father very very much."

Comme's wife set up a GoFundMe account asking for support for their family.
