Ex-Wellington Principal Pleads Guilty to Trying to Lure Child for Sex

Scott A. Blake, 47, formerly employed at Polo Park Middle School, made his plea in federal court Friday

A former Wellington middle school principal pleaded guilty Friday to trying to use the Internet to arrange sex with a child, a federal official said.

Scott A. Blake, 47, formerly employed at Polo Park Middle School, made his plea in federal court to one count of enticing a minor to engage in an illegal sexual activity, according to Annette Castillo, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, in Miami.

Blake, of Palm Beach Gardens, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. His sentencing was scheduled for Feb. 1 next year.

Blake’s arrest resulted from an undercover investigation into social-networking websites, Castillo said. An undercover agent, posing as a 15-year-old boy, was contacted by Blake online, she said.

“After several sexually suggestive conversations, Blake arranged to meet the undercover agent at a local mall for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual activity,” Castillo said in a press release.

When Blake arrived at the mall, he was arrested, she said.
