FBI Arrests Alleged Gables Bank Robber

The FBI revealed Tuesday that it has arrested Louis Spina, 56, for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a Coral Gables bank Monday morning.

The arrest was made Tuesday in Coral Gables. According to the FBI, Spina was arrested following a traffic stop. The arrest was part of a join operation between Coral Gables PD, the FBI, and the South Florida Violent Crime Task Force.

The robbery happened at the Wells Fargo Bank at 2555 Ponce de Leon Boulevard around 9:40 a.m., when the masked suspect entered the business, implied he had a dangerous device and demanded money from an employee, the FBI said.

The FBI said Monday the suspect in the Wells Fargo heist may be behind Friday's robbery of the Chase Bank at 1300 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. In that robbery, the suspect was clad in a pink shirt and pinkish colored cap, but without a mask.
