5 South Florida Banks Robbed in 24 Hours: FBI

The FBI is investigating after five banks in Miami-Dade and Broward were robbed within 24 hours.

The first robbery happened Tuesday just before 5 p.m. at the BB&T branch located at 1451 West Cypress Creek Road in Fort Lauderdale.

Police say the robber entered the bank and demanded money from a bank employee. The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured.

In the photos, the suspect is covered with a dark hooded sweatshirt. The suspect's face is also obscured. The camera does show the suspect's hands.

The second robbery happened Wednesday afternoon at the BB&T branch at 3401 N. Pine Island Road in Sunrise.

No one was injured and money was taken but the amount wasn't disclosed.

At 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, the Chase bank at 12945 Southwest 112th Street in Miami was robbed by a man who demanded money from an employee. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The fourth robbery happened at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday at the Chase bank at 2750 Coral Way. Less than 15 minutes later, the Chase bank at 3700 W. Flagler Street was also robbed.

The FBI believes the same suspect is responsible for the last two Miami robberies. The suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

Milagros Zuazo said she worked at a bank branch for more than 10 years and the protocol is to comply with a robbers demands.

"Do what the note says. Don't matter if it's a fake gun, fake whatever, you're not there to determine that," Zuazo said.
