FEMA, State Officials Open Disaster Recovery Center in Miami-Dade After Irma

Two weeks after Hurricane Irma barreled through the state of Florida, leaving devastation in its wake, residents and small business owners are getting another chance to receive help from state and federal officials.

Specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration opened a Disaster Recovery Center for those in need of assistance following the storm on the Kendall campus of Miami-Dade College.

The center, located inside Building K at the campus located off SW 104th Street, will be open each day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.

A second center is also being opened on Florida’s west coast, located in Venice.

More centers will open in the coming days, so residents are advised to monitor the FEMA website for more information. Those in need can also call the agency’s help line 800-621-3362 every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. All are encouraged to register online before visiting a center.
