FIU Officials Searched for Suspect On Campus

University officials say the school was never on lockdown Friday night

Officials at Florida International University were working with police Friday night to search for a suspect who had attempted an armed robbery.

Students Back at School After Hazmat Scare

Diane Hernandez, spokesperson for FIU, said the school's Modesto Maidique campus was never on lockdown and that the suspect fled from campus.

Double Shooting at South Florida Fair

Around 10:30 p.m., FIU tweeted the following: "FIU police is working with Miami-Dade and Sweetwater police to apprehend a suspect who was allegedly involved in attempted armed robbery earlier this evening south of Lakeview on the Modesto Maidique Campus."

The all-clear was given shortly after.

It is unknown if the suspect is in custody.
