FIU Stabbing Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

Accused killer of football player Kendall Berry enters plea

The man accused of killing fellow Florida International student and football star Kendall Berry pleaded not guilty Friday to the murder.

Quentin Wyche, 22, was charged with second-degree murder in the March 26 stabbing of Berry on FIU's campus.

According to police, the incident began at the school's rec center when Wyche insulted Berry's girlfriend and threw cookies in her face. As the two men exchanged words and the argument became physical, Wyche stabbed Berry with an unknown object.

Wyche was later arrested after turning himself in to police.

The 22-year-old Berry, a running back for FIU, was remembered as a great player with an "infectious personality" by Golden Panthers coach Mario Cristbal.

Wyche's lawyer said Friday that his client is not guilty.
