FSU Aims to Have New President Hired by Fall

An FSU search committee on Friday voted in favor of an application deadline and timeline for the job.

Florida State University is aiming to have a new president on board by early fall.

An FSU search committee on Friday voted in favor of an application deadline and timeline for the job. Candidates wanting the job have until Sept. 2 to apply for the position. The goal is to have a finalist for the post picked by the end of the month.

Eric Barron stepped down from FSU to take the top job at Penn State University. But the search to find a replacement has been tumultuous.

Initially the search committee was prepared to designate powerful Republican state senator John Thrasher as the main candidate for the job. But there was a backlash over that decision and the search consultant stepped down amid faculty criticism.
