As his heartbroken parents continue to try and understand the loss of their only son, Rudra Bhatt was remembered Monday, just one month away from what would have been his 15th birthday.
"Maybe he is going to come ... Knock on the door, he will come with the bike,” said his father, Dakshesh Bhatt. “Still, we are hoping he will come back.”
Rudra was killed after he was riding his bike by the intersection of Alton Road and 50th Street. Police said it was an accident, after Bhatt was hit by a truck. His father was the one who found his body after tracking the teen’s cell phone.
“In this part I saw him, and then called him (but) he never picked up. I took the car and saw paramedics and police.”
Family and friends gathered for a vigil to remember Rudra as a way to say goodbye, with his family saying it was not as much about sorrow, but more about remembering the good times and love they will always have for him.
