Family Pleads for Help in Solving Fatal Miami-Dade Hit and Run

The family of a man killed while crossing a southwest Miami-Dade street is asking for the public's help in finding the hit-and-run driver responsible.

Joseph Williams, 63, was crossing at 14700 Southwest 280th Street around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 19 when he was struck by a black Chevrolet Impala, which fled the scene, Miami-Dade Police said.

Williams' family will be holding a news conference with police Friday afternoon to release more information and ask for the public's help in finding the driver.

Police said the four-door Impala, from 2006 to 2011, should have left front damage and should be missing the grill. No description of the driver was given.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with info can call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
