Adams, who returned to the scene of the incident Thursday morning, said the boy was crossing the road with his stepfather, who was holding a baby girl.

Police say Binns was crossing Miramar Parkway in the 6200 block around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle, possibly a white Dodge Charger, and thrown onto the car's hood. The boy fell off the car and was run over, and was taken to Joe DiMaggio Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"This is very hard, I lost my son in 2000 in a car accident and then my grandson, oh lord," said Adams, who was inconsolable, shaking and sobbing uncontrollably.

The boy's half brother, 12-year-old JJ Binns, who shares the same father, said the two would play video games together.

"That was my favorite little brother, he was just like me," he said. "He always liked to have fun."

Miramar Police said they're looking for the car, which is a newer model and has 22-inch rims and dark tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
