One person was killed and another hospitalized in a single-car crash that shut down the eastbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade Wednesday morning.
Chopper 6 was over the scene near the intersection of U.S 441 shortly after 6 a.m. where officers could be seen near a wrecked car.
Florida Highway Patrol officials said a female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was rushed to Aventura Hospital.
All lanes were closed and traffic was backed up to Northwest 57th Avenue. The highway reopened around 10 a.m.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
