Fatal Crash Closes Stretch of I-95 Southbound at SR 112

A deadly crash early Tuesday morning brought southbound lanes of I-95 in Miami-Dade County to a halt.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Graciela Perdomo, 32, somehow managed to get into the southbound express lanes of I-95, which were closed at the time, and ended up with her car going airborne and ending up overturned.

Troopers at the scene said Perdomo showed signs that she had been drinking. Perdomo walked away from the crash without any injuries. She was charged with driving under the influence and has since bonded out of jail. It’s unknown if she has an attorney.

Troopers said Perdomo could face more charges and they are still unsure how she got into the closed express lanes of I-95.

But Perdomo’s crash was just the beginning of the problems along I-95. A tow-truck driver stopped to block the overturned car and see if he could help out at the scene. That’s when a third car slammed into the back of the tow truck, with the driver of the third car dying at the scene.

“I ran to the vehicle and the driver was sitting in the back seat, so I knew he was dead on impact,” said tow-truck driver Editiberto Torres. “There are accidents all the time and road rangers and tow truckers getting struck every month.”

The driver who died was later identified as 38-year-old Gregory Clark Murat, of Miami.
