Female Skateboarder Struck, Killed in Hit-and-Run Near Tampa

A young woman was struck and killed while riding her skateboard in Madeira Beach, Florida, and police are searching for the hit-and-run driver.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as 20-year-old Emma Keown, according to a report by NBC affiliate WFLA.

Witnesses told police that Keown was skateboarding with a group of friends on Gulf Boulevard just before 2 a.m. Friday when she was hit by a black pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Dakota or Ram with a lit pizza delivery sign on top.

Witnesses told deputies that the driver stopped briefly, but did not exit the truck and kept on riding.

They describe the driver as a white male in his late 20's with dark, bushy hair.
